Training for 12 hours of mesa verde

After a bit of a hiatus, both intentional and forced, I’m thrilled to share that I’m back on the bike and actively training for the 12 Hours of Mesa Verde race on May 9th, 2026! It feels good to be getting back into a routine, even if it’s currently on my internal trainer, logging miles on Zwift. The main goal right now is to shake off the rust, get my fitness levels back up, and most importantly, get used to sitting in the saddle for extended periods again. My backside is slowly but surely re-acclimating, which is always an adventure after some time off!

Things hit a bit of a snag recently when a stubborn cold sidelined me for about a week. That was tough, especially just as I was starting to build momentum, but I’m feeling pretty well recovered now and definitely ready to jump back in. I’m planning to be back on the pedals tomorrow, eager to pick up where I left off.

The excitement for the Mesa Verde race is already building. I’ll be teaming up with three other fantastic riders, and together we’ll be tackling that epic course. For my part, I’m setting a personal goal to complete at least two laps of the 16-mile loop racecourse – that’s 32 miles right there! But if I can really push it and get three laps in, I’ll be absolutely stoked. It’s going to be an incredible challenge, and I can’t wait to share more about the journey as we get closer to race day.
